This weeks track is Dolly Parton and ‘9 to 5’ – I just can’t help but to dance and sing along when this song comes on! A sure-fire mood lifter and booty mover. If you’re feeling glum on a Monday morning, whack this on and sing about your work-woes whilst making yourself smile!
PS – Clare’s choice of track is particularly relevant at the moment…we have both been so busy working that our blog posts are slowing down a little bit, we hope to be back up to full speed soon!
This weeks track is not a huge throwback, its from Ryan Adam’s 2014 album, Ryan Adams, and it’s the track ‘My Wrecking Ball’.
I’ve chosen this song this week after my husband gave me a very intimate performance of it on Valentine’s Night, on his acoustic guitar. My husband has a wonderful singing voice, and I don’t get to hear it very often, so him choosing this song to sing for me was a very special treat. He’d been practicing all week without me knowing!
I actually think his version is better than Ryan’s, but until he lets me record him on video, you’ll just have to settle for the original version.
Enjoy, Suzy xx
“I’ve got more wit, a better kiss, a hotter touch, a better…”
This is my emo phase song, which is pretty laughable as I am sooooooo not emo!
Takes me back to a former life, when I wasn’t in a great relationship and I spent a lot of time at home listening to music while doing chores. It was what it was. But THIS song I used to belt out word for word, and play a little air drums to. I’m thinking this is kinda my theme to these tracks, always ones you can either bounce to or sing to!
Anyway, this weeks track is Panic! At The Disco’s ‘Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off’.
Enjoy – Suzy xx
Better late than never! I’ve been going back and forth all day pondering today’s choice of track. I’ve had one of those days where I’ve just had a multitude of songs going round and round in my head, and admittedly, most of them have been fairly current.
So what to do for today’s track? Inspiration came to me in the shower, where at first I started singing ‘Hopelessly Devoted To You’ from Grease (expect to see a Grease soundtrack song on here at some point), before I remembered, this isn’t my shower song! My shower song is this – ‘You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman’ by Carole King. Yep, Carole King. I’ve said this before, but my younger years, like so many others, were heavily influenced by my parents taste in music, and so Tapestry by Carole King is one of my favourite albums of all time. It’s enduring, passionate, melancholy and at times, fun, and has been a constant for me.
Carole King co-wrote this with Gerry Goffin and it was released by Aretha Franklin in 1967. It later appeared on Tapestry in 1971, with Carole imparting a different vibe to Aretha.
Enjoy, and if you get chance, check out the album.
