Snap Happy!

My husband tends to go all out on a new hobby and will buy and request as presents all of the bits and bobs required to kit himself out for said new hobby. I admit, I do chew his ear off a bit about how much money he is spending, and roll my eyes whilst doing so because he soon moves on to another hobby! I didn’t roll my eyes when he said he needed a good camera so he could learn more about photography though. He bought a Canon 60D and over the years has collected a nice bundle of accessories to go with it. I’ve always loved taking photos and I have been dying to get my hands on this camera but haven’t had any technical know-how to do so……until NOW!

Gary, The Husband, gave me a whistle stop tour of his camera as I signed up for the Makelight Workshops. It’s an online course delivered by the lovely Emily Quinton and I’m so grateful to Franky, of Love Audrey, for recommending her and the course.

I must say I am loving it! I have learnt so much in almost four short weeks and my head is brimming with inspiration. All I need to do now is find some time when I’m not working or chasing after a toddler to grab the camera and take some more photos!

Here is one of the favourite images I have captured so far. I have so much still to learn but I am proud of my progress. Please feel free to follow me on Instagram @clare_gcphotography (a company name invented by my husband some time ago for our pipe-dream photography studio!) to see my other photos and how I’m getting on.

Let me know what you think.

Throwback Thursday…Track 9

In continuation of our celebration on Wednesday (over on our Instagram) of all things big and beautiful, this weeks track is Gossip with ‘Standing In The Way Of Control’.

My husband reminded me of this yesterday as he’s added it to his BBC playlister thingy which was blasting in the house when I got back from the gym last night. Another belter of a tune with a thumping bassline and some straight up sass from it’s singer Beth Ditto. Be sure to check out ‘Heavy Cross’ also – a permanent fixture on my ever changing iTunes library.

Enjoy! – Suzy xx

7 things about Suzy

I lick Oxo cubes. Weird, yes. Disgusting? Most certainly. Tasty? Damn straight.

One day I want to run my own business. I have a ton of ideas floating around in my head, and when the circumstances are better, I’m gonna go for it – 100%.

I travelled the world with my husband in 2009/2010 after being made redundant. It was one of the most wonderful experiences of my life, but the best thing was it made our relationship stronger than ever!

I’m a fiercely loyal friend. My oldest friends I’ve known since I was 4 and there’s a reason we’ve stuck together over the years…they just can’t get rid of me!

I never in a million years thought I’d ever want to get involved in writing a blog, and when we decided to do this, I had soooo many reservations. But I’m thrilled with how well I’ve taken to it and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved so far.

I have webbed toes. They are the cutest thing you will ever see, and if you ask me, all your toes are weird and not mine!

My sister and her family live in Australia, they moved there in 2008. I have a nephew who I’ve not met, but I face time them constantly, miss them like mad and can’t wait to see them soon.

7 things about Clare

I’m a vegetarian which was a natural decision for me after spending a lot of time in a Butcher’s Shop when I was young (Dad was a butcher – put me off for life!)

As an animal lover, I’ve had the pleasure of living with 7 dogs, 10 hamsters, 3 fish, 2 cockatiels, 1 budgie, 1 stick insect, a rabbit and a guinea pig although not all at the same time.

I’m a complete nerd. I really love listening to intelligent people using clever words & good grammar and I wish I could speak and write as eloquently as they do.

I am 33 but I love Disney – watching films, listening to Disney songs and shopping at The Disney Store. I’m off to Disneyland in August with my husband, daughter & in-laws and cannot wait!

I am most definitely Team Apple.

My daughter is the light of my life.

I’m married to a man I met when I was 12. He is kind, ambitious and caring. I never thought I’d get to marry someone like him. Good guys do exist.

And so to our nominations: – Andrea’s recipes are such and inspiration and are to die for. A must read. – Rachel’s blog is so interesting and varied, from market trips, to beauty tips and baking with all her posts reflecting her chatty personality. – Gluten free recipes in abundance, all delivered with a personal touch. – Beverley is super cute and super small – and her blog (especially hair tips) is a pleasure to read. – Connie mixes her love of food with her love of travel! Recommendations ahoy in this blog. – This mummy loves sharing her life with the kids, and posts great photos too! – Tashi is a breath of fresh air, and blogs about love, food, travel, fashion & beauty and health & fitness. – if you want a beauty product review, this is the place to find it! – this is a wonderfully designed blog on the best of life’s adventures – children! – AKA the world of nails. Informative reviews covering all aspects of nail polish. – Sharon posts all her beauty tips with a delightfully personal style. Love her product shots too.

There’s not quite 15 here, but a lot the blogs we follow had already been nominated, so please so make sure you check out our selection, we adore these blogs!

Throwback Track…Track 8

“I’ve got more wit, a better kiss, a hotter touch, a better…”

This is my emo phase song, which is pretty laughable as I am sooooooo not emo!

Takes me back to a former life, when I wasn’t in a great relationship and I spent a lot of time at home listening to music while doing chores. It was what it was. But THIS song I used to belt out word for word, and play a little air drums to. I’m thinking this is kinda my theme to these tracks, always ones you can either bounce to or sing to!

Anyway, this weeks track is Panic! At The Disco’s ‘Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off’.

Enjoy – Suzy xx
